Multiverse

Multiverse was built by the Norwegian offshore shipyard Kleven on the same Marin Teknikk platform as her 107-metre sister Andromeda, finished in Bremerhaven and delivered as Ulysses in June 2018. She carries a helicopter in a hangar on her top deck and a 21-metre motor yacht in her foredeck well. Her DNV class includes the light-ice notation Ice(C), and in recent years she has been one of the most travelled large yachts, from the Pacific to the Mediterranean.

In short

Multiverse is a 116-metre explorer built by Kleven, a Norwegian yard that builds offshore vessels, on Marin Teknikk's MT 5006 MkII platform, and Boat International counts her as the third-largest explorer yacht in the world (Marin Teknikk, YachtBuyer, Boat International). She carries 470,000 litres of fuel for a published range of 8,000 nautical miles, a hangar with its own refuelling station for a Bell 429 or Airbus ACH135 helicopter, and a 21-metre Princess 68 in her foredeck well (YachtBuyer, SuperYacht Times, Boat International). Her DNV class includes Ice(C), the society's basic notation for light ice and light drift ice in river mouths and coastal areas, and she holds a Polar Ship Certificate that DNV renewed in March 2026 (DNV register, DNV rules). Her reported voyages are long rather than icy: a trans-Pacific passage in 2021, and in 2024 the Caribbean, Central America and the Mediterranean, which put her among Boat International's most travelled yachts of the year (SuperYacht Times, Boat International).

Questions

What makes Multiverse an explorer yacht?
She was built by Kleven, a Norwegian offshore-vessel yard, on Marin Teknikk's MT 5006 MkII platform, which the designer describes as made for long expeditions in rough water (YachtBuyer, Marin Teknikk). She has a steel displacement hull with DNV's Ice(C) light-ice notation (DNV register), a range of 8,000 nautical miles from 470,000 litres of fuel, covered side decks and enclosed bridge wings (YachtBuyer), and a helicopter hangar with its own refuelling station (SuperYacht Times).
Can Multiverse go to Antarctica or the Arctic?
Her hull is only lightly ice-strengthened: DNV class Ice(C), which DNV's rules apply to light ice and light drift ice in river mouths and coastal areas (DNV register, DNV rules). She holds a Polar Ship Certificate, renewed by DNV in March 2026, the document the IMO Polar Code requires for ships operating in Arctic and Antarctic waters, but the register does not show its category (DNV register, IMO). No polar voyage by Multiverse has been reported by the shipyard, her class society or the yachting press.
How far can Multiverse go without refuelling?
Boat International and YachtBuyer give a range of 8,000 nautical miles, from 470,000 litres of fuel, but neither ties that figure to a speed; both give her cruising speed as 8 knots and her top speed as 12 knots (Boat International, YachtBuyer). Her endurance in days has not been published.
Does Multiverse have a helicopter hangar?
Yes. She has a landing pad and a hangar on the top deck for a Bell 429 or an Airbus ACH135, and the hangar has its own refuelling station (SuperYacht Times, Boat International). The certification of the pad has not been published.
Was Multiverse called Ulysses, and who owns her?
Yes. She was delivered as Ulysses in June 2018 (Boat International) and renamed Multiverse in 2023; SuperYacht Times reported that the change did not indicate a new owner (SuperYacht Times). She was commissioned by New Zealand businessman Graeme Hart (Boat International), and her registered owner is a company, Dawn Redwood Investments Ltd. (DNV register). She is not the 107-metre Andromeda, Hart's first Ulysses, nor the 102.5-metre Feadship now called Ulysses (Boat International).
Where has Multiverse been?
After her maiden season in the Mediterranean in 2018 (Boat International), she cruised the Norwegian fjords and made a trans-Pacific voyage in 2021 (SuperYacht Times). In 2024 she was one of the most travelled superyachts, cruising the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and Central America, including Costa Rica and Baja California Sur, and in 2026 she was at Cannes in May and Venice in September (Boat International, Boat International).
