In short
Cloudbreak is a 75.28-metre Abeking & Rasmussen of 2016, designed by Espen Øino for an owner whose passions are heli-skiing and surfing (Boat International, Boat International). Her 220,000 litres of fuel give a range of 8,500 nautical miles at 13 knots, and her commercially certified helideck with refuelling was built for the owner's Bell 429 (YachtBuyer, Boat International). The steel hull has an ice belt, but no ice-class notation has been published, so her limits in ice are not rated (Boat International). She sailed from the shipyard to Iceland in 2016 and went on to Greenland for her first expedition cruise there, and in the first half of 2024 she covered 18,226 nautical miles, from Southeast Asia around Africa to Turkey (SuperYacht Times, SuperYacht Times, Boat International via BoatTEST).

Specifications
- Ice class
- No notation published. She has a steel hull with an ice belt, and the inclined bulwark forward works as what her designer calls an integral wave breaker. YachtBuyer says she was built to Lloyd's Register technical standards
- In ice, in practice
- An ice belt adds thicker plating along the waterline, but without a class notation it gives no rated ice thickness. For comparison, the Finnish-Swedish rules expect a seagoing steel ship without ice strengthening to manage only very light ice under its own power. The shipyard described her as equipped for the Antarctic; no voyage of hers through pack ice has been reported, and no Polar Ship Certificate has been reported
- Length overall
- 75.28 m 72.5 m in the shipyard's launch release; 72.28 m in SuperYacht Times
- Length at waterline

- Displacement
- 1,702 tonnes
- Builder
- Abeking & Rasmussen, Lemwerder, Germany
- Design
- Exterior by Espen Øino; naval architecture by Abeking & Rasmussen; interior by Christian Liaigre's studio, with furnishings chosen by the P.H.D architectural bureau; interior built by Rodiek
- Build history
- Four years in development. Her hull platform is closely related to the Abeking & Rasmussen yacht Aviva, with longer lines for better efficiency. Construction began in early 2014; she was launched in February 2016 and delivered in June 2016. SuperYachtsMonaco represented the owner from the purchase of the project through construction and later managed her. A 60-metre corridor on the lower deck runs through the upper level of the engine room, so the yard had to rework the engine room's ventilation
- Hull and superstructure
- Steel displacement hull, aluminium superstructure, teak decks
- Propulsion
- Two Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines, twin propellers; zero-speed stabilisers for comfort at anchor
- Speed
- 12 kn cruising; 15 kn maximum
- Range
- 8,500 nm at 13 kn 8,750 nm at 12 kn in a 2021 Boat International feature
- Fuel and water
- 220,000 litres of fuel and 35,000 litres of fresh water
- Endurance
- Not published in days. The tank deck holds large stores, freezers and cold rooms and a sewage treatment plant that keeps waste on board until a port with facilities, so she can stay self-reliant in remote areas
- Helicopter
- One helideck certified for commercial use, with a refuelling system, built around the owner's custom Bell 429 GlobalRanger; there is a cabin for the pilot, and the helicopter is not available to charter guests. The deck doubles as a party deck. No hangar has been reported
- Tenders and toys
- A 12 m Cockwells custom tender, a 10 m Xtenders beach-landing tender and a 6 m Highfield Patrol 600; the two largest stow on the aft main deck behind louvres. A Centurion Enzo wake boat and the water toys sit in a garage forward of the owner's suite. The charter listing counts four tenders
- Submersible
- None reported
- Support vessel
- None reported
- Navigation
- A FarSounder forward-looking sonar gives the bridge a view below the surface ahead of the bow, and the bridge also carries a sextant. An itinerary room at the saloon entrance shows the yacht's position, heading and speed in 3D
- Where she has been
- After leaving the shipyard in June 2016 she sailed to Iceland, the first stop of a world tour, with Greenland as her next goal; SuperYacht Times published a photo of her on her first expedition cruise in Greenland, part of a circumnavigation, in June 2017. She has also cruised the Norwegian fjords. Her charter broker says she has cruised Antarctica, Southeast Asia and Papua New Guinea; a 2021 Boat International feature also lists Madagascar, Mozambique and the Chagos Islands among her destinations. In the first half of 2024 she covered 18,226 nautical miles: three months in the Malacca Strait between Singapore and Phuket, the Andaman Islands, then around Africa and through the Strait of Gibraltar to Turkey
- Guests and crew
- 12 guests in six cabins: the owner's suite on the main deck, with a fold-down balcony to port and a sea terrace to starboard, and five cabins on the lower deck; 22 crew
- On board
- A winter garden on the upper deck that can be glassed in and heated or opened up; a fireplace in the saloon; a beach club with a gym, sauna, massage room and chilled plunge pool; a ski room; a round cinema forward of the helideck; a glass lift; a pool for up to 10 people above the bridge, with outdoor beds and a crow's nest above it
