In short
Heeus is the first hull of the Bering B145, a 44.2-metre steel explorer that the builder kept under 500 gross tons and gave a fuel capacity of 95,600 litres for a range of about 5,000 nautical miles (Bering Yachts, Northrop & Johnson). Her hull is 10 mm thick at the bottom and 12 mm along an ice belt, with two skegs protecting the propellers and rudders and eight watertight compartments; the belt adds strength rather than a rated ice capability: her Bureau Veritas class carries no ice notation (Boat International, Bureau Veritas register). A 550 kWh battery bank lets her run silently at up to 8 knots for about two hours or sit at anchor without generators (Boat International). Her documented voyages so far are Mediterranean and Caribbean seasons and an Atlantic crossing, part of it on batteries, rather than polar cruising (Dockwalk, Bering Yachts).

- Builder
- Bering Yachts, Antalya, Turkey; hull 1 of the semi-custom Bering 145 (B145) series and, at launch, the builder's largest yacht; its previous flagship was a 26-metre trawler yacht
- Design
- Naval architecture and engineering by Bering Yachts' in-house team; exterior styling by Sabdes Yacht Design of Australia (Scott Blee) with Bering Yachts; interior by Bering Yachts (Bayram Avci), in a Scandinavian-inspired scheme with orange accents. The owner liked the look of the smaller Bering 77; the exterior has a tall bow, forward-raked bridge windows, a Portuguese bridge and a large boat deck
- Build history
- Keel laid in May 2020 as yard number B140-01; launched at the Antalya shipyard on 28 April 2022; sea trials followed in summer 2022 Bureau Veritas records her build date as 26 August 2022, and Bering says it handed her over to the owner in May 2023. Her captain followed the build in Turkey and commissioned many of the systems. A second B145 was under construction in 2023 Sale listings give 2023, the year of handover
- Hull and superstructure
- Steel full-displacement hull, aluminium superstructure, three decks plus a sundeck. Two large skegs protect the propellers and rudders and support the hull if she grounds; eight watertight compartments with automatic sliding doors; self-righting up to 60 degrees of heel, according to the shipyard's managing director
- Ice strengthening
- No ice-class notation: the Bureau Veritas register lists her class without any additional notation. The hull plating is 12 mm thick along an ice belt and 10 mm on the bottom, which the builder intended for high-latitude cruising.
- In practice
- An ice belt without a class notation gives no rated ice thickness. For comparison, the Finnish-Swedish ice class rules describe class II, the class for steel seagoing ships that are not strengthened for ice, as able to navigate very light ice under their own power. The owner's brief named ice-strewn northern waters; no voyage of Heeus in ice has been reported
- Propulsion
- Hybrid diesel-electric: two Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels of 1,200 hp each, ZF gearboxes and twin five-blade propellers, plus two 100 kW Danfoss electric propulsion motors fed by a 550 kWh battery bank. On batteries alone she makes up to 8 knots for about two hours with the hotel load, and can lie at anchor silently; ABT TRAC four-fin stabilisers work under way and at anchor
- Speed
- 10 kn cruising; 14 kn maximum 12 kn cruising and 15 kn maximum in shipyard and Boat International figures

- Endurance
- Not published in days. Watermakers produce 7,200 litres of fresh water a day; the lower deck has three walk-in cold rooms
- Fuel and water
- 95,600 L of fuel; two day tanks hold 6,000 L in total; 13,700 L of fresh water 68,100 L of fuel in Boat International (June 2023); 11,560 L of fresh water in Boat International (August 2023)

Tenders ride in cradles on the boat deck, which turns into open deck space once they are launched, and a 25 m² garage behind the beach club holds toys a 9.2 m chase tender, two further tenders, three jet skis and three Seabobs in 2023
- Deck crane
- A Steelhead CT-6000 hydraulic crane, SOLAS-rated, on reinforced steel on the bridge deck aft; the broker gives its capacity as 2,721 kg (1,000 kg at full extension). A beam crane serves the toy garage through a side opening 2.5 tonnes in Boat International (2023) and Dockwalk (2024)
